The Problem with Waiting…

“I waited patiently for the LORD.”

Psalm 40:1

Waiting is much more difficult than walking, because waiting requires patience, and patience is a rare virtue.

Sometimes it is hard for us to understand, all the waiting we seem to have to do, but God has a purpose in ALL of His delays.  Remember… “The steps [and the stops] of a good man are ordered by the LORD” (Psalm 37:23)

Once we learn to wait for the Lord’s leading in everything, we will know true strength…the strength that finds its highest point in an even and steady walk.

We often lack strength because we have not understood the true secret to being strong…Waiting!

We must not consider life to be a failure when we are compelled to stand still.  Forced into inaction.  Required to watch the great, roaring tides of life from the shore.

Waiting indeed is strength.  Standing still and quietly waiting is a thousand times harder than to rushing headlong into the busyness of life.

My prayer today is that God will give us the courage to stand and wait.  And still not lose heart or lose hope.

I pray that by His grace we will submit to His will.  Giving up seemingly juicy opportunities.  Leaving honors to others.  All the while remaining quiet, strong, confident, and joyful…amen!
