Why Worry?

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?'”

Matthew 6:31

Being restless and having worries and cares are absolutely forbidden by our Lord.

This does not mean that we are not to think ahead.  Or that our life should never have a plan or pattern to it.  God simply means that we are not to worry.

It is obvious when we live in a constant state of anxiety.  The lines on our face betray us.   So do the tone of our voice, our negative attitude, and the lack of joy in our spirit.

But if we scale the heights of a life abandoned to Christ, our perspective will be changed to the point where those clouds that once rained on our parade will be beneath our feet.

We should note that it is a sign of weakness to always worry and fret.  To always question everything, and mistrust everyone.  Nothing can be gained by it.  We only make ourselves unfit for action, and limit our ability to make wise decisions.

We simply sink in our struggles when what we should be doing is floating by faith.

It is my prayer that this weekend, our souls will return to a place of peace, and rest within the sweet embrace of the Lord Jesus…amen!
