Power Equal to the Task

“Be on your guard; stand firm in faith; be strong; be courageous.”

1 Corinthians 16:13

When we pray, we should never pray for tasks equal to our power. Rather we should pray for power equal to our tasks. We should not pray that our work will be be miraculous…but rather that we will be the miracle. (Phillips Brooks)

Generally as people we avoid things that are costly, or require self-denial, and self-restraint, and self-sacrifice. And yet it is the hard work and difficulties that ultimately lead us to greatness.

Greatness is not found by walking a nicely leveled path laid out before us…it is found by carving out our own path through the untamed wildlife life…

…So let us pray for strength! To reach the glorious mountain peaks God has purposed for us…amen!
