“He has given us His very great and precious promises.”
2 Peter 1:4
When a shipbuilder erects a boat, he does not keep it on the scaffolding. No! He builds it to sail the seas. To weather the storms.
In fact, if he does not think of strong winds and hurricanes as he builds it, he is a poor shipbuilder.
In the same way, when God made you and me, He meant for us to be strong enough to weather storms. And He gave us promises which are like life vests. Suitable for times of storms and high seas.
Those life vests. Those promises, are not counterfeit. They are not for show. They are intended for us to use. To count on when we are out to sea.
Christ dislikes nothing more than for us to profess Him publicly but not use Him. As if He were counterfeit. As if He were a museum piece.
God loves for us to make use of Him. His covenant blessings are not simply meant to be looked at, they are meant to be appropriated.
Let us pray that we will not treat God’s promises as something to be displayed in a museum. Rather let’s use them whenever we are in a time of need. Let’s allow them to serve as everyday sources of comfort…
…And may the blessing God never fail us, but be fulfilled in our lives…amen!
