Quiet Time?

Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders.”

Deuteronomy 33:12

When we spend time alone in God’s presence, communing with Him, we transfer our heavy burdens to His strong shoulders, and we gain His perspective on our lives.

This alone time with Him is essential for unscrambling our thoughts and smoothing out the day before us. Therefore we should be willing to fight for this precious time with Him.

It’s not easy, because so many other things compete for this time: our own desire to linger in bed; the devil’s determination to distract us from God; the pressures of family, friends, and our own inner critic to spend our time more ‘productively’.

Today let us pray that we will continue to grow in our desire to gain the strength to resist these competitors and spend time with God. May we delight ourself in Him…grow in Him…be strengthened by Him…and find peace in Him…amen.
