“He answered nothing.”
There is no scene in all the Bible more majestic than Jesus remaining silent before the men who were reviling Him.
He could easily with one quick burst of divine power, have caused them to be laid prostrate at His feet. Yet He answered not one word. He allowed them to say and do their very worst.
He stood in the power of silence and stillness.
Often we rush to speak. To defend ourselves against those who accuse us. And in so doing we’re often misquoted or misunderstood. Only worsening our case.
But when we’re silent we come to a place that allows God the opportunity to work for us and gives us peace.
It is a place that allows God to provide an answer, through His unfailing love, to the cruel blows that we suffer.
Today, let us pray that God will grant us this powerful silence and submissive spirit. That we will be able to face any situation with a quiet calm knowing that our Father in heaven who neither sleeps nor slumbers is keenly aware of our battle and will uphold us with His righteousness right hand…amen!
