“She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.””
Even though we will all rush back to work today, let us endeavor to make some time to relax in His healing presence.
As we spend time with Him, our thoughts will likely jump ahead to our plans for the year and it’s ensuing problems.
But let us pray that God will grant us the strength to bring our mind back to Him for refreshment and renewal.
Let us not skimp on your time with Him and let us try to resist the clamor of tasks waiting to be done. Instead let us choose what is better, and what is due us will not be taken away from us.
It is my prayer that the light of His presence will soak into us as we focus your thoughts on Him so that He may equip us to face whatever this new year brings. Amen!
