“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Romans 12:12.

We all like to think of the new year as a time of new hope, new opportunity…new everything. We like to think of it as the leaving behind of old things. As a shedding of that which is past.

But the reality is that difference between last year and this year is that last year was yesterday and this year is today. And so for some of us the debt, the cancer, the failing marriage we had yesterday (last year) is still very real today (this year)…

…but so is the God we serve.

He is still very real. As real today (this year) as he was yesterday (last year).

Therefore let us persevere in trusting the Lord…and cast all our anxiety on Him, knowing that He cares for us affectionately and is watching over us continually. Amen!
