“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith…”
1 PETER 5:8-9.
Lions attack sick, young or struggling animals. They chose victims who are alone or not alert.
Peter warns us to watch out for Satan…who like a lion, attacks us when we are suffering and feeling alone, weak, helpless and cut off from others.
At such times if we focus on our problems and we tend to forget to watch out for danger. Those are the times when we are particularly vulnerable to Satan’s attacks.
We must always be conscious of the fact that because we are a loved child of God, we will always find ourselves in the midst of fierce spiritual battles. Even our most routine day will have some minor spiritual skirmishes.
And so I pray that we will let God guide us step by step through today, resting in the truth of who we really are: His beloved children in whom He delights…amen!
