Eyes wide shut

“Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth. But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock…”

1 Sam. 17:33-34.

There is something very inspiring about the the kind of faith David had when he was young.

The Bible tells us that through faith he conquered a lion and a bear, and afterward overthrew the mighty Goliath.

I can image that when that lion came to attack his flock, he was probably wondering why God would allow the devil to attack him like this.

I’m sure it never crossed his mind that the Lion was a special blessing from God. But in the end it was. Because killing that Lion was what gave him the confidence to kill the bear and ultimately to kill Goliath.

And that act is what led him to being considered for King.

The thing is, in as much as we may dislike it, every difficulty that presents itself to us, is God’s opportunity.

Every temptation that comes is God’s opportunity.

So as we enter into this new work week, let us remember that when the “lion” comes…it is actually an opportunity from God.

I pray that God will open our eyes to see Him, whether in temptations, trials, dangers, or misfortunes….Amen!”
