“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”

Most of us love nothing more than to descend into a pity party when we are weary or unwell. But this is a trap and in fact it is dangerous for us.

Christ did not succumb to the pit of self pity…not necessarily because He didn’t feel sorry for Himself…but because He looked beyond His cross.

He looked way past His burden and His troubles to the Joy set before Him.

Like Christ there are several ways we can protect ourself from self-pity. When we are occupied with thanking God for the good things that have happened to us, it is impossible to feel sorry for ourselves.

I pray today we will be able to look beyond our burdens and see the joy that lies ahead and I pray that the Lord will grant us with the strength to run with endurance the race that is set before us, without stumbling or falling…amen!
