The Lord said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
Full text: Psalm 2.
This psalm explains that Jesus; the Son of God; was asked to choose His inheritance. Now in choosing, Christ did not ask for wealth or glory or power…rather He asked for us…you and me…the heathen…desiring our happiness in Him.
And still today, He pleads for us, and lives to do so.
He saved us by sacrificing His life…and for that He has many, many of willing, loyal followers…followers who have made and continue to choose Him. Christians. Not forced to be loyal to Him.
That is the beauty and at the challenge of our faith. That we must choose Christ. Not once as part of an alter call…or on the day we are confirmed…but every single day. Multiple times a day we must make a choice for or against Christ.
Whatever we choose…be it to forgive a friend, to gossip, to help a stranger, or to litter the streets…each of these is a choice to follow or to turn our back on Christ.
Dear God, Thank you for giving me your Son, who reflects Your glory. I don’t often think about how each of my actions is a choice for or against Him…grant me the grace through Your Holy Spirit to always submit my actions and decisions to the Lord Jesus and to lead me into all truth. Amen.
