“For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.”
1 Corinthians 15:25-26
We have all at some point stood over the grave of a friend or loved one, and tasted the grief and separation from their death.
Scripture identifies death as the last of Jesus’ enemies…and through His own death and resurrection, Christ overcame death!
Therefore even though we will still lose our family and friends physically…the children of God have overcome death with Christ and will be given life after death.
So it’s ok to be sad because we’ve lost a loved one…but we must rejoice knowing that our separation from them is only temporary and that a time will come when we will be with them forever.
Dear God…I know there have been times when the loss of a loved one has shaken my faith in You and made me question Your very existence. Forgive me for my doubt and allow the reminder of your resurrection to serve as a source of triumph & mercy in my life, and the lives of anyone who is wrestling with the emotional, spiritual, and physical damage that death can cause. I pray this is the name of our Lord Jesus…Amen!
