Freedom through sorrow

“He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”

Daniel 3:25

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the furnace, Jesus didn’t put out their fire…He joined them in their trouble.

The fact that they were seen “walking around” means clearly that the fire did not stop them from moving. The fire actually became one of the roads they traveled to their destination.

As Christians, the comfort we have from Christ’s truth is not that we will have freedom from sorrow but that we will have freedom through sorrow.

Prayer

Dear God, there are times when darkness overshadows me, and I feel abandoned and want to give up. Remind me that in the midst of my deepest pain and hardest struggles, you are right there…not to to take me out…but to see me through. Amen
