“We went through fire and water, but you brought us to a place of abundance”.
Often we look at people and say they are blessed…because they have been untouched by sorrow.
But is it really a blessing to be untested? Is it really a blessing to not know whether we have what it takes to handle life’s setbacks?
The best pilots are not the ones who have never weathered a storm. They may be good for fair-weather flying, but when a storm arises, I think we can agree that we would want an experienced pilot in the critical seat…
And that is what Christ is…a weathered pilot who has first hand experience of every sin and tragedy that we face.
Being blessed doesn’t mean we’ve been spared pain and tragedy.
On the contrary…to be blessed is to have been through fire and water, and come to a place of abundance.
Dear God…I know I’m often ungrateful and can’t find any blessings in my own life…so I’m constantly looking at other people to see Your blessing. But the truth when I look at all You’ve brought me through…I am the one who is truly blessed. I thank you for Your continued mercy and grace towards me. Amen.
