Perfect righteousness

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge— that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Ephesians 3:17–19.

Paul prayed the above for us so that we may come to the knowledge and understanding that no matter our sin…we are holy and blameless in God’s sight.

But how can this be? After all, we know that we fall short of His holy standard every single day…

Yes it’s true, we are not holy and blameless in ourselves, and we will never be sinless in this life. But in the moment we give our lives to Christ…in the moment we trust Him as our Savior…and we give Him all our sins—past, present, and future—He gives us His perfect righteousness.

And in that moment we become gloriously righteous in God’s sight.

This is an eternal exchange…based on Christ’s love…and it secures our place in His royal family forever.


Dear God, I keep holding onto the guilt of my past because the world keeps telling me that I must ‘do’ something in order to be forgiven totally. But Your love transcends the transactional thinking of the world. Help me to know, understand and most importantly accept the truth of your Word, and the depth of Your love for me. Amen!
