Drawing near to God

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.”

James 4:7-8

Spending time alone with God is not a luxury or an option; it is a necessity.

And so we shouldn’t feel as though we’re wasting time when we take time out of our schedule to be with God.

Remember that Satan is the accuser of believers…he delights in heaping guilt feelings upon us, especially when we are enjoying God’s presence.

Most of the time, when we feel Satan’s arrows of accusation, it is because we are probably on the right track. And that is when we should talk to God all the more…sharing with Him what we are experiencing, and asking Him to show us the way forward .

Dear God, I feel like I should spend every waking moment making money or doing something active…and being on my knees often leaves me feeling like the world is passing by. Grant me the grace to trust that as I draw near to You…You will draw near to me and work out for me all those worldly things that I’m so worried about. Amen.
