“He said, “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and, “This is the place of repose” – but they would not listen.”
It is a wonder that we worry…
…because in as much as it gives us a sense of ‘doing something’ about our situation, we are aboard such a large ship that we would not be able to steer even if our Captain placed us at the helm.
We would not even be able to adjust the sails, yet we worry as if we are the captain of this vessel called life.
But the storms of our lives are raging on God’s deep…God’s deep, not ours…so we need to be still and sleep…and let the master steer His ship!
Maybe we think all the commotion and the uproar of life is evidence that God has left His throne…He hasn’t!
He is right there…but when we worry we entertain hopelessness…and that hopelessness constricts and withers our hearts, rendering us unable to sense God’s blessings and His grace.
Dear God, I know I often exaggerate the adversities of life and makes my burdens seem much heavier than they really are. Help me to shed worry and be clothed in peace. And to trust that everything I go through is part of Your way of delivering Your amazing plans for me. Amen.
