“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.””
Sometimes we treat God like that tool in the emergency glass box which reads, “break in case of emergency.” We only think of Him when we need Him.
The rest of the time, He is safely tucked away and unable to interrupt our fun, or the way we want to live our lives.
Or so we think…
Isaiah is pointing out to us that God is everywhere all the time. He is not bound by time, space, or our own personal pleasure. And He is always talking to us whether or not we are listening.
But rather than viewing this as a fearful thing or even a rude infringement of our privacy…we must see this as a comfort.
Because it does not matter where we are…physically, mentally, spiritually, or emotionally…God is with us!
Dear God, Thank You for always talking to me even though I know I don’t always listen to You. But sometimes Father, I really just can’t hear You with so many other voices talking. Help to know which voice is Yours so that I may follow it always. Amen
