“Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”
Jesus spoke these words to His Disciples just after He had finished washing their feet.
His point was that if we want to be blessed…then we must bless.
But somehow today, the way we try to receive God’s blessing is not by serving one another and giving of ourselves…but by spending hours in church singing praises to God…and splashing money at the church.
There is nothing wrong with church…and our faith in Christ remains most important. But that faith must result in deeds of practical obedience such as kindness and caring for the poor.
Jesus placed a lot of emphasis on daily living…
Our salvation is not worked out in church…it is worked out everyday on the streets.
Dear God, teach me to serve like You. Show me the ways in which I can be Christ to other people. Help me to get past myself. And fill me with Your love…the love that seeks to give and not always receive. Amen.
