An undivided heart

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.”

Matthew 10.34

In all honesty sometimes Jesus can sound very scary…

…but before we dismiss this scripture as one of those “I don’t think He meant that” scriptures…let’s try and understand His point.

First of all Jesus does bring peace.

His presence however, demands that we either choose Him as Lord or reject Him entirely.

And in doing so it means we will have to deal with the fact that not all our family members will agree with our choice…or even make the same choice for themselves.

The clash of these choices is what can bring conflict and disquiet…but despite it…we must choose Christ.

Prayer

Dear God, give me the courage to place You as the central controlling relationship in my life. May I always honor You and serve You with an undivided heart and a spirit of faithfulness. With a loyalty that has no rival. Amen.
