And then there is judgement

“The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous.”

Matthew 13:49

Nowadays the world is very focused on loving everyone…in other words being open minded, tolerant, and inclusive.

This is excellent, because it is based on some Biblical principles…but in this process, other Biblical principles, such as God’s judgment of sin and evil have conveniently been dropped.

Jesus’ parables include stories about God separating weeds from wheat at the final judgment, and about a net from which edible fish are separated from fish that cannot be eaten.

Jesus’ parables emphasize limitless grace…however they also highlight God’s limitless demand to abide by His laws

Naturally, since God is a loving, caring God, we must imitate His grace in our treatment of other people. But we must also recognize a coming judgment, when good and evil will be eternally separated.

Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that God’s judgment will never come.

It will!

And because it will, we must put aside selfish pleasures and choose to do what pleases God and has eternal value.

Prayer

Dear God, guide me to commit daily to live for You.  Save me from being fooled into thinking that You will never return. And lead me to live a life that promotes a commitment to Jesus Christ. Amen.
