Most of us have gotten into the habit of staying in touch with our jobs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (24-7-365).  The advent of email, cell-phones, and the Internet, has convinced us that since we can stay in touch…we must stay in touch. But living by that principle is dangerous for our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

The one place though, where the 24-7-365 principle is required is when it comes to our awareness of God’s presence.

God is with us everywhere we go, and in everything we do.  He’s at our job…at our school…and at our gym. In whatever we do as spouses, parents, children, grandparents, brothers and sisters…God is with us. God is present in what we read, watch, and play for entertainment. He certainly will not impose…but He is there and just as we are consciously aware of our email, whatsApp, and voicemail messages, we must be aware of Him.

We cannot practice God’s presence on Sunday and then turn our back on Him for the rest of the week.

Prayer

Dear God, may no part of my day or night be free from Your presence, but may all my life, every day and, every step be in fellowship with You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
