“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.”
Everybody’s priorities in Noah’s days were eating, drinking, and marrying. Jesus said that on the day He is revealed it will be similar. And true to His Word, today our church calendars are filled with socializing, weddings, and funerals.
These activities aren’t wrong; but our scripture conveys a sense of urgency by the Lord. And just as Noah was moved to bring people into his Ark…we should be moved by Christ‘s Words to bring more people into the Kingdom of God.
Noah’s ark was built to rescue people from the flood. “It was the same in the days of Lot,” says Jesus, before Sodom was destroyed. There is an urgency in these stories. And we who believe and are part of the Kingdom of God are called like Noah to draw others in.
Dear God, I want to be where the Lord is on the day He is revealed. Forgive me for filling my time only with everyday busyness. Fill me with Your passion…with the urgency to show others who You are. And teach me to do so, not just by my words but primarily by my deeds. Amen.
