Let’s get to work!

“He sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.”

Luke 19:15

God has deposited multiple physical, mental and spiritual gifts into each of us, and He has an expectation that we will use them.

Many of us never use our gifts because we’re afraid or embarrassed about what the world might say. Some of us even think we’re doing the world a favor by not exposing them to the failures that will no doubt come as we attempt to use our gifts…and so we hide them.

But God has an expectation that each gift, no matter how small, must be developed and increased to the benefit of mankind. Using our gifts pleases Him so much so that in the parable, we see that the King actually doubled the gifts of all those servants who used them and commended them for being responsible.

The one who hid his gift, however, was not commended for being cautious, or humble, or even for minimizing risk. Rather he was accused of being lazy and wicked…and to top it off his gift was taken away from Him.

The message is simple; first, we’ve been given treasures of blessings, not to hoard for ourselves but to bless others. Second, we will have to give an account of how we used the gifts we received. Third, playing life too safely is actually contrary to what God wants…He thinks that is being lazy.

He expects us to put our gifts to work while we are here. So Let’s get to work!

Dear God, help me to use my gifts to please You. Help me to overcome my fear and get to work. By Your Holy Spirit, make me a faithful servant. Amen

  1. May the lord help us to understand that we are not just living for ourselves but to impart unto others the gift in us and to put all our lives together to the lord.
