“Jesus spoke to the crowds, “But to what will I compare this generation? For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
Matthew 11:16, 18-19
If we like someone, they can do no wrong. But if we dislike them, they can do no right.
Many of us struggle with our acceptance of Christ because we are too preoccupied with the way the message about Him is packaged. Either it’s too churchy, or too worldly, or too loud, or too solemn…either way, we find fault.
This Advent, let us pray and ask that our hearts will be open to receive Jesus in His purity.
Dear God, help me to focus on You and not on how different people and churches present You. You are the reason for Christmas, let my heart be filled with nothing but Your love, Your peace, and Your joy. Amen.
