There is abundance in lack

”When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late; send them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.’”

Mark 6:375-36

The ”wilderness” in Scripture is always a place of testing.

In our reading, Jesus was out in the wilderness giving a talk to a large crowd.

Given that it was in the middle of nowhere, there was no food except a little bread and fish that the disciples had for themselves.

Jesus took this food, gave thanks, and miraculously multiplied it so that everyone had more than enough to eat.

Like the disciples and the large crowd, we all experience “wilderness” times in our lives…times of lack, destitution, isolation, and very often fear.

Today, God is teaching us through this story that He has the power to provide all that we need and more.

We simply need to trust Him and believe that in Christ, all our lack will be turned into abundance.

Dear God, whenever I am going through tough times, I feel afraid and I doubt. Forgive me for my doubts and help me to trust You for all that I need. Amen.

  1. May the lord grant us the Spirit of waiting which makes it difficult for us to understand his ways and plans for us. The word is ” Patience” . May the lord bless us all this New Year especially our Rev’d Fr. Akua for making sure that our Souls are nourished daily. Amen
