A Solitary place

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

Mark 1:35

For all the good He did, Jesus was constantly being criticized or judged by someone. He must have found the lack of human affirmation very draining.

That is probably why He felt this need to constantly take off to a quiet place to be with His beloved Father. I think we can all relate to and indeed share in this lack of human acceptance and appreciation.

For this reason, we should learn from Christ, and often take time out, to find a solitary place where we can pray, and draw strength from God. And when we pray we should let Christ know how much we appreciate Him as a companion and as one who understands and shares in our struggles.

Dear God, I’m glad You can relate to how rejected and dejected I feel sometimes. Remind me always that I can come to You, for strength, comfort, and reassurance. Amen
