“Then some people came, bringing to [Jesus] a paralyzed man, carried by four of them.”
Sometimes we feel just too broken, too sorrowful, too stressed, or too sinful to reach out to Jesus on our own.
Today’s Bible reading tells of a man who couldn’t get to Jesus on his own because he was paralyzed…broken. So ‘some people…’ who he probably didn’t really know, decided to take him to Christ at all costs.
And they did not give up just because it wasn’t easy…they dedicated themselves to making sure this man received his healing…so much so that they broke through the roof to get to Christ.
This is our role as a family in Christ…to pray for each other and to carry each other’s burdens. We don’t necessarily have to be friends with the person. But when we come across someone who is in need mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, we as members of the family of God are supposed to carry them to Him in prayer.
Dear God, thank You that when I am broken and not able to reach you on my own, You have made provision for others to place me at Your feet. Remind me always that I also have a responsibility to pray for others in their time of need. Amen.
