“Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
There’s a tendency to assume that this scripture is talking about physical possessions. In that the more we give the more we get.
But verse 24 which says, ““Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.”” makes clear that Christ was talking not about physical possessions but about the Word of God.
His point is that, the more we share His Word, the more knowledge and insight we will receive about Him. But if we are too embarrassed or afraid to share who He is, then even the little insight we have will become diminished.
Therefore like a lantern in a dark room, we are the light in this dark world. We cannot afford to hide or be hidden under the proverbial bowl or bed of political correctness or whatever is preventing us from sharing Christ.
Dear God, I thank You that in listening, hearing and sharing Christ, I grow in familiarity with His voice and as I result I hear and understand more. I pray for those who have no understanding, that they might come to know You. Amen.
