Just believe

“While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?” Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.””

Mark 5:35-36

Jesus was on His way to heal a dying child when He was interrupted by another person who needed to be healed. While He was delayed and helping that person, word came that the child had died.

People started murmuring and saying that it would be a waste of time for Jesus to go and see the child since she was already dead. But Jesus said to the child’s father; Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

That is the level of faith Jesus wants us to have in Him. A faith that can ignore what is obvious to the world and focus on the life giving power of Christ.

Dear God, I am grateful that against all odds I can still look to You and trust that You can and will deliver me in accordance with Your will. Amen.
