The Visual Gospel

“These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town.””

Mark 7:8-10

In the days of Jesus, many people could not read…this was why Jesus stressed not so much the message, but more the appearance of the messenger (i.e. the lifestyle of the preachers.)

Nowadays, many people simply do not read and therefore the message of Christ is still judged by the life of the messengers more than by the words they speak.

This is why as Christians, it is critical that we watch how we live. Our lives may be the only gospel someone will ever ‘read.’

Prayer

Dear God, forgive me for the times when my lifestyle has distorted Your Gospel. Amen.
