“Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”
At this point in His ministry, Jesus was starting to teach His disciples about His death and passion. But the disciples were struggling to understand.
Mark’s story about a blind person who Jesus seems unable to cure immediately, is actually a metaphor for the disciples’ and indeed our tendency to be slow to understand Christ.
Dear God, help me to see You properly. Minister to me as You did to this blind man…and help me to accept the mystery of Your passion. Amen.
