To deny the cross is to deny Christ

“Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.”

Mark 8:31

Christians today have the attitude of Peter. We love the the good news, we love the blessing, we love the honor of being identified with Christ…but we hate the cross.

We hate it so much so that today some churches deny the cross and only preach prosperity.

But when we forget the Cross, we forget Christ. And when we deny the Cross, we deny Christ.

Prayer

Dear God, when I fail to understand Your ways don’t lose hope in me. May I heed Your call to ‘get behind You’ like a good disciple…who has taken up his cross and is following the Master. Strengthen me in times of suffering, and teach me to bear it patiently as You did. Amen.
