The child in us

“Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.’”

Mark 9:36-37’

The great Dominican mystic, Meister Eckhardt, joyfully claimed that “that my soul is as young as when I was created, aye, much younger. And I tell you, I should be ashamed were she not younger tomorrow than today.”

In every adult, there is an inner child…

…an inner child who is vulnerable, sensitive, playful, and open. And before the world cast its shadow of familiarity, boredom and cynicism, that child in us was full of wonder.

That wonder that existed and still exists deep within us is the only way through which we can experience the glory and the greatness of God.

Dear God, revive in me my inner child, that I may approach and accept You always as a child, not with cynicism but with wonder. Amen
