Jesus said to him, ‘Go; your son will live.’ The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way.
Every crisis presents both danger and opportunity.
It presents the danger of a pure dependence on trust which is based on our past experiences…good and bad.
And it presents the opportunity for us to have faith. And faith is an invitation to go beyond what we can see, touch, measure. An opportunity to launch into the deep.
Today as a world we are faced the same options…to trust in what we have seen or to put our faith in what we have been told but have not yet seen. It does not mean we must tempt God by refusing to apply known safety and prevention measures.
What it means is that like the royal official, we must believe in the Word of God as He spoke it to us in Psalm 91:7, ‘Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.´
Dear God, give me the faith of the royal official, to believe just because You have said it. Amen.
