Approval addiction

How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?

John 5:44

So many of us seek and are indeed addicted to the approval that comes from other people.

We work hard, dress well, give to charities and even go to church so that others will praise us. But that is not the glory Christ says we should seek.

Christ cautions us that the more we seek and get the approval of people…the less we desire and seek approval from God.

This Lent and during this pandemic, let us examine the real reasons why we do the things we do. And if our reasons are to receive praise and glory from people, then let us ask God to renew our hearts and minds, so that we may seek the glory that comes from Him and Him alone.

Prayer:

Dear God, help me to be honest with myself about why I do the things I do. Diminish in me this need to be righteous in the sight of men and lead me to seek only Your glory. Amen.

  1. Thanks Rev’d Fr. Such touching messages find us at the bottom of the ladder, may the lord touch our hearts to be able to see and repent. Amen

  2. This is soo true,Most of our outward demeanor or kind gestures we exhibit is to impress people around us and seeking glory from them. But I pray that God should remind us to seek the glory that comes from him alone.Amen.
