Yet we know where this man is from; but when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.
Many people, even today want to eliminate Jesus, by destroying His Word and creating the impression that Christ is a magician who only performs extraordinary feats.
But this Gospel further confirms that Christ was ordinary…maybe too ordinary. Because the Jews knew He was from Nazareth, they wrote Him off – it was too ordinary a place to produce a Messiah.
Today many of us write-off the works of Christ because they’re too ordinary. The miracle of someone opening a door just when we need it is so commonplace that we don’t even bother to thank God.
As we observe Lent and as we stay home keeping safe due to COVID 19, may we see God in the ordinary things of our days and keep Him alive in our hearts by testifying of His goodness to others.
Dear God, show me Yourself in the ordinary. And let me recognise You there today. Amen.
