Paying Homage to Him

“On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11

To pay homage to the Lord, the wise men of the East gave Him gifts that were indicative of who He is to them and to the world.

The GOLD signified that He is the King of the world.

The FRANKINCENSE acknowledged His Priesthood.

And the MYRHH which is used to anoint the dead was a sign that He would give up His life for the world.

That was them. How about us?

How will we pay homage to Christ? What gifts will we present to God this year and this decade.

The gift most worth giving in any age is our love! That will be our acknowledgement of Christ as our Priest, our King, our Savior, our Brother, and our Friend.

Dear God, I’m not quite sure how to give you all my love, but I know the love I feel for various people in my life; my spouse, my children, my friends, and my neighbors. Today, I take all that love and offer it to You, so that through You I may love each of them. This is my acknowledge that you are the King of my heart. I pray that this will be a fitting and acceptable gift. Amen
